Bio:
Weiwen Ma, a native of Shanghai, is celebrated internationally for her virtuoso technique, her bold interpretations of the classic repertoire, and her vivacious stage presence. She has been described by world celebrated pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi as “[playing] with flair and technical prowess. Her keyboard skills are remarkable.”
During the global pandemic, Ms.Ma recorded the series of videos “Piano at Home,” many of which have been featured on the virtual Concerts & Cocktails to support the front-line medical workers and encourage social distancing. Ms.Ma has been featured as a guest soloist with many orchestra including Northbrook Symphony Orchestra, The Park Ridge Symphony orchestra and Wooster symphony orchestra.
She has appeared in major venues including Carnegie Weill Hall in New York, Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series at Chicago Culture Center which were broadcast on WFMT 98.7, Buntrock Hall at the Chicago Symphony Center, Detroit Symphony orchestra Chamber Series, Noontime Concert series in San Francisco, Schimmel Piano Gallery in Shanghai and many more.
Favorite Composers:
I enjoy playing Russian composers like Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Scriabin and Polish composer Chopin.
