Bio:

Nina Saito is an enthusiastic Suzuki violin teacher. She studied Suzuki pedagogy with Nancy Jackson and Edward Kreitman. Nina also studied at Mimi Zweig’s summer institute at Undiana Univsersity. She teaches at the Suzuki Music School of Lincoln Park, which is now a part of the Merit School of Music, Near North Branch. She enjoys coaching chamber music at the Opus summer camp and private teaching in District 204. Nina has performed throughout the country touring as a member of the New York City Opera National Company and the Western Opera Theater (San Francisco). She formerly played with the Sarasota Opera and the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, FL. Nina has played many summer festivals including the AIMS Orchestra in Graz, Austria and the Spoleto Festival in Spoleto, Italy and Charleston, SC. She is an active freelancer in the Chicago-area. Some of the groups with which she plays and has played include the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, Music Theater Works (co-concertmaster), New Philharmonic Orchestra, Elgin Symphony and Chicago Sinfonietta. Nina has performed solos at Preston Bradley Hall with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra as well as in Southern Illoinois.

Why do you believe music education is so important? Why is Merit School of Music such a special place for learning music?

Music is a universal language available to everyone which is why I believe music education is so important. Merit makes the joy of making music accessible to all.
