Merit’s Near North line-up includes group instrumental classes, private lessons, and Early Childhood classes—with options for all ages and experience levels. Your child will study with some of the best music educators in the region while having fun and making new friends.

Merit – Near North is located in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood on the northeast corner of W Eugenie St and N Cleveland Ave.
Private lessons and group instrumental classes take place at 458 W Eugenie St in St. Michael’s parish center.
Early Childhood Classes

Early Childhood music classes at Merit – Near North are held at Church of the Three Crosses, located on the corner of W Wisconsin St and N Sedgwick St. Enter using the main entrance on Wisconsin St.
Please note: Select Early Childhood classes for ages 5-7 occur in our building on W Eugenie St.

- Halsted “8” Bus to the corner of Halsted St and North Ave
- Red Line “L” Train to the North/Clybourn Stop
Driving & Parking
A few common routes to Merit School of Music – Near North include Lakeshore Dr, I-90, W North Ave, or N Halsted St.
There is a free parking lot on W Eugenie St, directly adjacent to Merit’s buiding at St. Michaels. Parking spots in this lot are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with no guarantee of availability. Street parking is also available with no permit before 6:00pm.
