Bio:

Mijin Kim is a dedicated piano instructor with over a decade of teaching experience. She specializes in piano technique, music theory, and artistic expression across a wide range of repertoire, from classical to contemporary music. She holds a Master’s degree in Piano Performance, with additional study in piano pedagogy and organ at NIU. Ms. Kim has guided students of all ages in preparing for recitals, competitions, and graded examinations. She tailors her instruction to each student’s individual goals and learning style. Many of her students have achieved outstanding results in competitions and examinations, including performances at Carnegie Hall in NY. Known for her warm and encouraging teaching approach, Ms. Kim fosters confidence, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for music in every student. Ms. Kim has served as a full-time piano faculty member at Merit School of Music, and is also an organist and pianist at Northbrook UMC. She is an active member of MTNA, ISMTA, and CAMTA.
