Bio:
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Gleise Montemagni holds a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a master’s degree in music education from Indiana University (IU). She studied piano with Gilberto Tinetti during her undergraduate work and was mentored by other renowned teachers in Brazil, such as Lina Pires de Campos, Alex Sandra Grossi, Luiz Carlos de Moura Castro, Maurícy Matos Martin, and Miguel Proença. She has participated and performed in numerous festivals and concerts, as a soloist and in chamber music, and holds an award from the I “Spartaco Rossi” National Brazilian Music Piano Competition. As a fully funded graduate student and associate instructor at Indiana University, she conducted research in music education under Brent Gault, taught undergraduate courses, and studied piano with Reiko Neriki.
Gleise is a passionate educator with extensive experience as a piano teacher and continuous learning. She was a piano professor at the Espírito Santo Music College (FAMES) in Vitória/ES, Brazil, for several years, teaching and participating in judging committees at the undergraduate program, as well as at the piano academy/pre-college program. Her students have achieved outstanding results, such as awards in national competitions and acceptances into music programs. She is currently a member of the piano faculty at Merit School of Music in Chicago, Illinois.
