Bio:

Born in Brazil, Gleise Montemagni studied with pianist Gilberto Tinetti during her undergraduate work and was mentored by other renowned teachers throughout her piano training, including Alex Sandra Grossi, Lina Pires de Campos, Luiz Carlos de Moura Castro, Maurícy Matos Martin, Reiko Shigeoka-Neriki, and Miguel Proença. She began her teaching activities at the age of 17, as a piano and music theory teacher at the Santa Cecília Conservatory in São Paulo. Since then, she has dedicated herself to teaching piano and to social projects in music education. She worked as an associate instructor in undergraduate courses at the Jacobs School of Music and as a piano teacher in Indiana, where she lived for several years. From 2011 to 2018, she was a piano teacher at the Espírito Santo College of Music (FAMES), in Vitória, in the piano academy/pre-college and bachelor’s program. She was also the area coordinator of the educational project Choirs in Schools, a partnership between the Espírito Santo College of Music (FAMES) and the State Department of Education (SEDU). From 2018 to 2023, she was a piano teacher at Vértice Espaço Cultural and at the Vila Mariana Music Conservatory in São Paulo. She has achieved excellent results with her students, such as awards in national competitions and acceptances into undergraduate music programs. She is currently a piano teacher at the Merit School of Music, in Chicago, Illinois.
