Elizabeth Forrey

Manager of Annual Giving & Events

Education:

Master of Arts Management, Carnegie Mellon University; Bachelor of Arts: Music and French, Allegheny College

Bio:

Elizabeth is the Annual Giving & Events Manager at Merit. She is an arts management and language professional who has had substantial experience in arts, education, and translation. Before moving to Chicago, she taught English to high school students in a northwestern suburb of Paris, France. Elizabeth has been published on various occasions for her research on the intersection of art and technology, specifically regarding the position of nonprofits in the current climate of Big Tech, its monopolistic tendencies, and ongoing legislation. She continues to work on various arts and tech-related research projects in her free time. When not at Merit, you can find Elizabeth gaming, socializing in Chicago’s francophone community, or at the gym trying to hit a new PR — or training for another marathon (each time she swears the previous one would be the last!).

Favorite Song or Musician:

I oscillate between City Trees by Michael Markowski and Land by Takatsugu Muramatsu. Both remind me a specific time of my life, holding a special place in my heart.

Quote:

Music education fosters creativity, community, and self-confidence. It is imperative to every human’s health and well-being. Merit affords that opportunity to so many young people and it is so incredible to see the passion they have developed for music in these halls.
