VanderCook College of Music
B.M. & M.M., Music Education
Inspired by his own high school band director, David Allie spent 36 years working with young musicians as Director of Instrumental Music for Memorial Junior High School in Lansing, Illinois. During his tenure there he traveled extensively around the Midwest, East Coast and Canada for student competitions and festivals. Under his leadership, the Memorial band earned a first place rating at district and state competitions for 36 years and won the University of Illinois SuperState Concert Band title three times, among numerous other recognitions and awards.
Within a couple years of retiring, Mr. Allie turned his music education interests to Merit’s Concert Jazz Band where he thrives on helping students at all levels be the best that they can be. He is also the Band Director for the Talcott Fine Arts and Museum Academy in Chicago, and for Books, Brushes and Bands for Education in Hammond, Indiana.
A trumpet player, Mr. Allie holds a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. He continues to participate in area summer workshops and symposiums.
“The entire staff at Merit work together as a team to inspire young musicians to achieve their full musical and personal potential.”
