Bio:

Tanya Katleya Guerrero is a bilingual early childhood educator and proud Colombian-American from Chicago who began working professionally in music at the age of 16. She has performed across a wide range of genres—including Classical, Jazz, Musical Theatre, R&B, Rock, and Metal—but her deepest passion lies in the Latin music she grew up with. Tanya is thrilled to share the joy, rhythm, and culture of Latin music with young children, just as it was shared with her.

Favorite Musician:

My favorite artist is Willie Colón, a singer and trombonist who played a major role in shaping modern salsa. His music combines Afro-Caribbean rhythms, jazz influences, and powerful storytelling, often reflecting the experiences of Latin communities in New York. His bold trombone lines and vibrant arrangements give his songs a distinctive energy and emotional depth that continue to inspire me.

Favorite Musician:

Music education is what inspires young musicians to chase their passions. Merit School of Music allows children to explore and discover music from a very young age and prepares them for their future, while we support them every step of the way.
