Bio:
Carmia Lowe hails from Redford, Michigan and is a graduate of Ball State University where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre with a concentration in Acting. She now serves as an Alumni Ambassador where she provides education and mentorship to prospective and current students of color in order to break down barriers of privilege that keep theatre and dance artists from entering the industry. As an actor, she has worked with theaters such as, Raven Theatre, The St. Louis Black Repertory Company, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, and more. Carmia is a Producing Fellow with PlayGround-Chicago and has also independently produced several staged readings, a one-person show, and a short film. Her poetry film about police brutality and racism won Best Film at the Hoosier Films Annual Festival in 2021. Carmia is committed to advocating for historically underrepresented groups and the ever-growing need for accessibility and inclusion in the performing arts. In her free time, she enjoys writing poetry, dancing, and drinking strawberry milkshakes (in all seasons).
