Education:

Beth Bistrow has taught violin, viola, chamber music, string orchestra and music theory for the Merit School of music for the past 35 years. She is particularly proud of her work in Merit’s public school and community programs, where her students have gone on to participate in Merit’s advanced programs on-site, becoming fine professional and amateur musicians, music educators, performers and life-long music lovers. She has served for many years as a volunteer teacher in the Sistema Nacional de Educación Musical of Costa Rica, where the string orchestra in the Liberia Sinem site is named for her. She has also worked for many years as a free-lance violinist in the Chicago area, specializing in baroque and early music.
