Annaeka Johnson is the Librarian and an Early Childhood Music instructor at the Merit School of Music. She manages the Glasser-Rosenthal Music Library and instrument fleet, providing onsite students and Merit Music in Communities sites with instruments and supplies. Annaeka particularly enjoys the uniqueness of the Glasser-Rosenthal Library and the community space it provides for Merit’s student body.
Annaeka is also on the Early Childhood Music faculty, teaching classes on Saturdays and Sundays at Merit since 2018. Early childhood development and psychology has been a particular interest for Annaeka since high school – children’s brains are amazing! She loves watching Merit’s youngest students discover the joy of music through song and dance.
When she’s not at Merit, Annaeka can be found singing to her plants and enjoying time with friends and family.
I’m With Her is my favorite group. I love how beautifully this female trio sings and makes music together!
“I love the sense of community that comes from making music together! It connects people through time and space and brings so much joy.
The students who come to Merit, young and old, make it so special. They come from all corners of the city to make beautiful music and connect with each other. Every child should have the opportunity to make music with other people!”
