Dr. Albin is currently the Executive Director of Art 4, art4sb.org, a professional musical theatre company in South Bend, IN, Director of Communications at Conn-Selmer, Inc., and a Piano and Voice Faculty Member at Merit.
Aaron has over 18 years of experience as a teacher, conductor, pianist, and vocal coach, having worked with Clay High School’s Visual & Performing Arts Magnet (South Bend, IN), Ravinia Music Festival (Chicago, IL), Stage West Theatre (Fort Worth, TX), and Ascolti String Orchestra (also a Co-Founder). Within arts administration, Aaron has also worked for the Chicago Chamber Musicians and Des Moines Metro Opera.
Prior to coming to Merit, Dr. Albin was on the piano faculty at the Lone Star Music Academy (Dallas, TX), and the Des Moines Symphony Academy (Des Moines, IA). Dr. Albin encourages his students to be independent musicians who can read, perform, and evaluate music on their own.
Outside of Merit, you may find Aaron running marathons, cooking, eating his way through Chicago’s restaurants, or pursuing his admitted obsession with Italy and Italian opera.
Favorite Composer:
Johann Sebastian Bach – The first cassette tape Dr. Albin owned (and listened to daily) was The Best of Bach, nurturing his passion for piano music and ultimately leading him to pursue music as a profession.
