Meet Meve! This 10-year-old has a passion for music that can\u2019t be contained to just one instrument. She studies both cello and violin at Merit \u2013 South Shore<\/a><\/strong>, and once a week she comes to the Joy Faith Knapp Music Center in the West Loop to sing in our Children\u2019s Choir<\/strong>!<\/p>

We caught up with Meve to learn more about her musical journey, what inspires her, and how she finds joy through the power of music.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Tell us about your musical journey. How long have you been playing music? <\/strong><\/p>

Music has been in my life ever since I was born, introduced to me by my brothers. It piqued my interest, and when it came time for me to choose an instrument at nine [years old], I was presented with the cello. Its drastic difference from the other instruments I was familiar with drew my attention. It was strangely comfortable to handle. Paired with its soft and strong melodies, this encouraged me to move forward with it.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

I was [also] curious about the violin and had simply thought it was just a smaller cello, and noticed the fact that they both use the same bow technique. This familiarity was what compelled me to choose these instruments.


Choir is a fun way to use my own instrument, the one we all have within ourselves, as part of my musical journey. I can\u2019t wait for what it may become!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

How does playing music make you feel? <\/strong>

I feel tranquil and happy when I play my instruments. I always feel like myself when I\u2019m making music.


If your instrument was a superhero, what would its power be?\u202f <\/strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>
