Merit School of Music is thrilled to be the featured non-profit of Wintercamp Music Festival 2019. Wintercamp is an annual music festival held each winter in the legendary Logan Square Auditorium in Chicago. This year, the festival takes place February 15th – 16th. 10% of all ticket proceeds go back to Merit and our Conservatory Jazz Ensemble will open the festival.

In addition to the music, each year’s festival includes a charitable component. “Part of what we’re trying to do here is to not only curate a Chicago festival,” Geary began. “Part of it is feeding back to the community.” This year, the festival is working with the Merit School of Music, an idea the two say has had great appeal to the booked musical acts.

“There’s a deficit in arts and music programming, just funding-wise,” Cryderman said. “When we talk to a lot of these artists, it’s a big plus one that a lot of their ticket sales aren’t just going to pay them, but to something that’s good for the city. Specifically, youth who might turn into them in the future.”
