Staying safe and
making music at Merit

At Merit, your health & safety are our priority. We’ve instituted strict rules and safety guidelines for keeping our community safe during in-person music making.

We intend to deliver all scheduled in-person instruction in accordance with current safety best practices. To that end, we will continue monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and updating our policies, procedures, and protocols according to the latest public health guidance.

Summer COVID Protocol Updates

Beginning June 1, Merit will move to masks recommended for all students, families, faculty, & staff in our building regardless of vaccination status. Proof of vaccination will no longer be required for parents, guardians, or guests visiting the building.

All COVID protocols detailed below, including masking & parent/caregiver vaccination checks, remain in effect through May 31, with the exception of a few special events.

Please note: Merit’s COVID safety team will continue to monitor conditions & could make the decision to return to more conservative COVID mitigation measures if & when deemed necessary.

We’re doing everything possible to keep you safe and healthy! Read about the steps we’re taking.

Following CDC guidelines

We’re on top of it. Merit’s cross-departmental Policy & Safety Teams meet weekly to review new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and respond to potential active spread.

Keeping our building safe & clean

  • Our upgraded HVAC system increases air circulation throughout the building and introduces more fresh outdoor air.
  • Parents/Caregivers who are fully vaccinated are welcome to enter Merit’s building with their student.
  • Hand sanitizing stations are offered throughout our building.

Instituting vaccination & PPE requirements

  • All Merit faculty and staff are required to be fully-vaccinated*.
  • Everyone entering Merit’s building is required to wear masks.
  • We will provide wind instrument players with specialized PPE to help block aerosol spray.
*Except for employees who are exempt for medical or religious reasons.

We need your help to make sure everyone in our building stays healthy. Here’s how you can do your part!

When visiting Merit’s building, all parents/caregivers are required to show proof of vaccination. To make this check-in process as quick as possible, we recommend using the Bindle app which will provide you with a pass for express entry.
