DESCRIPTION:Make friends\, memories\, and beautiful music at Camp Merit! Camp Merit brings all of Merit’s large ensembles together—band\, choir and orchestra—for 2 fun-filled weeks. Each student will select a track (band\, choir\, or orchestra) based on their main area of study. Band and orchestra students who enjoy singing also have the option to add the choir track to their schedules. \nDuring this music camp\, your child will build skills during rehearsals and have the opportunity to try something new in our engaging elective classes that range from West African Drumming to Musical Theater. After spending 2 weeks having fun and refining their skills with the support of Merit’s celebrated faculty\, the camp will conclude with a final performance for family and friends—empowering students to take pride in how much they’ve learned and grown.

Merit’s Guitar Workshop gives young guitarists the chance to hone their skills and explore musical styles (from classical and jazz works\, to pop and classic rock tunes) in a fun and supportive environment. Students will have the opportunity to meet other young guitarists from across Chicagoland\, while working with special guest artists. \nThis guitar workshop is best for students who have studied guitar for a minimum of 2 years (at Merit or elsewhere). DESCRIPTION:During this 1-week camp\, pianists will develop their skills in music theory\, ear training\, transposition\, solo performance\, and participate in masterclasses with Merit’s esteemed piano faculty. \nThis camp is best for intermediate to advanced pianists (including Conservatory pianists!) with a minimum of 3 full years of instruction with a piano teacher and is available to students by teacher recommendation or a placement audition.
