In-Kind Gifts

Right now, you can help students at Merit School of Music develop as musicians by making a tax-deductible gift of property. Here are some guidelines to consider when making your donation!

Merit School of Music will gladly accept donations of instruments in working order to make instrument loans available to our students. We need good quality brass and woodwind instruments. We no longer are able to accept pianos, folk instruments, or empty instrument cases.

Merit cannot accept piano donations at this time.

Music Supplies
Help keep our students in tune and in time by donating your extra metronomes, tuners, sets of strings, and other music supplies to our library. They will definitely be put to good use!

Sheet Music
Merit cannot accept sheet music donations at this time.

Music Recordings
Merit has an extensive collection of music recordings available for loan to our students, and you can help us expand this collection by donating your CDs to the library (no cassettes or vinyl, please).

Performance Wear for Students
Help our students look their best onstage by donating gently used black or white clothing to our collection of performance wear available for loan.  For boys and young men ages 5-18: black pants or jackets, white shirts, and dress shoes.  For girls and young women ages 5-18: black pants or skirts, white blouses, and dress shoes.

When making a gift of property, you will be asked to complete a property donation form which will serve as your receipt for the gift.  Questions?  Please contact Jacob Gehl ( or 312.786.9428)
