Merit to Offer Free Storytime Early Childhood Classes for Kids, the 2nd Monday of Every Month

This fall, Merit School of Music, 38 S. Peoria St. in Chicago’s West Loop, is inviting children, their parents or caregivers to gather on the second Monday of every month at 11 a.m. to take part in a free Storytime early childhood music class.

Bring your little ones to celebrate the fun and adventure of books and music at this fun, free series of classes targeting the toddler set. Merit’s highly qualified and engaging teaching artists will be ready to lead a highly interactive, 45-minute class designed to develop each child’s imagination, musical awareness, and expressiveness.

Song, chant, movement, exercises and instrument play are all incorporated to help spark a lifelong love for music at a very early age. Parents and caregivers have a great time too, not only sharing the joy of music with their children but meeting other musically-inclined kids and families from across Chicago.

Storytime classes will be offered from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on the second Monday of every month. Fall dates are Monday, September 11; October 9; November 13 and December 11.

No pre-registration is necessary. Just drop in. Even better, bring friends for a rousing good time celebrating books and music together. Note: parents/caregivers should plan to actively participate in the fun.

For more information about Storytime, or to register your child for a music class this fall at Merit School of Music, visit meritmusic.org or call (312) 786-9428.
