Seating Audition information
Seating placement auditions will be held on August 25th and 26th. All Band, Orchestra and Jazz students are required to complete a seating audition. The seating audition request form was sent to registered students on Monday, July 24th. Please note that if you have not yet completed the registration process, you will not be sent an audition request form.
Students are required to learn the music provided for their specific ensemble and instrument. String students (String Orchestra and Merit Philharmonic) are responsible only for the music within the brackets in each part. Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion students (Junior Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony) are required to learn the entire part provided.
Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion Students interested in Merit Philharmonic
Only students who have successfully auditioned into Wind Symphony are eligible for placement in the Merit Philharmonic. If a student is interested in playing in both Wind Symphony and Merit Philharmonic, he or she must prepare the full Wind Symphony audition piece as well as the provided Merit Philharmonic excerpts (indicated in the part with brackets). If a Woodwind, Brass, or Percussion student is interested ONLY in Merit Philharmonic, he or she must seek Program Director approval to receive a waiver for Wind Symphony.
